Teacher vs Test based school recommendation, with Andrea Ichino and Giulio Zanella

We look at teacher and test based school recommendations in the Netherlands to disentangle the estimation bias and self-selection component in the regression from the causal effect. We thereby can identify the effect of teacher evaluation on self-esteem and school performance.

Optimal Severity of Sanctions to assure peace

This project focuses on the current threat of Russia entering war against the Ukraine. We apply a game theoretical signaling model to the current threat of Russia entering war against the Ukraine. The extend the basic model where a sender signals his type and willingness to sanction to the receiver who reacts by choosing war or peace, by repeated interaction, counter-signaling and coordination problem on the sender side.

Optimal Clinic Size, with Misja Mikkers and Caroline Berden

In a DiD setting we investigate the effect of reducing the clinic size on the number of hospital transferals and per patient cost in a case study in the Netherlands. First results suggest that in the treatment group hospital referrals, costs as well as returns of patients to the clinic were lower compared to the control group.
